Blue Canyon Country Club | |
| Blue Canyon Country Club is one of the premier courses in the region, set on 730 acres of land in a secluded valley, overlooked by Phuket's famous hills. Host to the Johnnie Walker Classics in 1994 and 1998, and the Honda Invitational in 1996, the club offers 2 courses. The world championship CANYON COURSE has won a number of international awards, including "Asian & Pacific Golf Course of the Year 1999" (Hertz International Golf Travel Awards) and the Top 500 Best Holes in the World" for its par 3, 7th hole. The LAKES COURSE, opened in 1999, presents a whole new challenge with water hazards on 17 out of 18 holes. The finishing hole is reputed to be one of the best in the region.
Golf Course Summary: Both courses have been molded around existing natural canyons and rubber plantations. To avoid environmental damage, the courses have been designed to utilise the natural features of the landscape, producing a masterpiece of golf course design with spectacular, sometimes daunting, natural hazards. The original 18 holes, 72 par CANYON COURSE was designed by Yoshikazo Kato in 1991. This championship course has featured in many major golf tournament including the Johnnie Walker Classic. The LAKES COURSE has one of the largest greens and is already reputed to have one of the best finishing holes in this part of the world. The course runs through a landscape of lakes and natural canyons with a constant gentle 10 mph wind providing an added dimension to the game.
